Our next selection for Unicorn Bar’s Queer Classics Book Club is Song of Achilles by Madeline Miller. Maybe you’ve seen the recent movie adaptation of Homer’s Odyssey or read the book at some point? Not gay. However - Miller’s book draws on Homer’s Iliad, precursor to the Odyssey, and depicts the homoerotic relationship between demigod Achilles and Patroclus as a mythic gaymance! The Boston Globe called Song of Achilles “powerful, inventive, passionate and beautifully written.” Join us on Thursday, October 22nd at 6PM at the Unicorn Bar as we discuss this book in queer community!
